As we inch closer to the release of the first teaser trailer for DC Studios’ first solo Supergirl film, audiences are eager to find out the first details about the film. Luckily, we here at Feature First have been given access to what has been described as a likely official, but not confirmed, synopsis for the film.
What Is The Synopsis For ‘Supergirl’?
We can exclusively reveal the synopsis for Supergirl below:
DC Studios’ “Supergirl” hits theaters this summer, starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl. When an unexpected and ruthless enemy threatens, Kara Zor-El is forced, against her will, to team up with an unlikely companion. Together, they embark on an epic cosmic journey where revenge and justice are at stake – and where Kara must confront her origins to find her own path as a hero. Alcock is joined by Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham and Jason Momoa in key roles. Peter Safran and James Gunn are producing the film for DC Studios.

What Do We Learn From The ‘Supergirl’ Synopsis?
As you can see the film will closely adapt the plot of Tom King’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic, which the film was originally titled after. In that comic, Supergirl is forced to protect the young girl Rutheye (played by Eve Ridley in this adaptation) from the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills (Schoenaerts) who killed the girl’s father.
As for Kara confronting her origins, it seems we may get a follow up plot to Superman’s legacy arc in his own solo film from earlier this year where the Kryptonian species were found out to be conquerors instead of the kind race we’ve come to know and love from the comics. The comic did feature heavy flashbacks about the death of the planet Krypton, so this will also tie into that.
The first teaser for Supergirl is expected to release this week, and promises to showcase some of Supergirl’s powers, the return of Krypto the Super Dog, and looks at the villains Lobo (Jason Momoa) and Krem.

Supergirl is directed by Craig Gillespie and stars Milly Alcock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham and Jason Momoa.
